I required these switches to fit in line to touch action table lamps that no longer worked. After removing the failed touch mechanism and connecting the bulb directly to the mains plug I needed an in line switch. This Item was ideal. The earth connection was not needed but it was good that both live and neutral wires went through the switch and also the cable grips were an added safety feature. Because of the compact size fitting the wires was slightly tricky. Both lamps now work perfectly.
